Main Components of the Unit
1. Compressor
The compressor draws refrigerant from the evaporator and compresses it into a high-temperature, high-pressure gas, which is then discharged to the condenser. In the condenser, the gas rejects heat and condenses into a liquid at a specific condensing temperature. This liquid then passes through a pressure-reducing throttling device and flows to the evaporator. In the evaporator, it absorbs heat and evaporates, thereby completing the entire refrigeration cycle. Our company's air-cooled packaged water chillers utilize rotary or scroll type compressors.
2. Air-Cooled Condenser
The condenser cools the refrigerant gas discharged by the compressor, condensing it into a liquid and transferring the heat to the air.
3. Evaporator
The evaporator is a heat exchanger used to produce chilled water. The low-temperature liquid refrigerant exchanges heat with water inside the evaporator; it evaporates by absorbing heat, continuously producing chilled water. Our company selects the appropriate evaporator type—coil, plate, or shell and tube—based on the actual application requirements.
4. Water Tank
The water tank is the container within the chiller used for storing chilled water, constructed from Stainless Steel 304. Whether the unit is equipped with a water tank can be determined based on customer needs or the intended application by our company.
5. Water Pump
The water pump is used to circulate and pressurize the chilled water, ensuring normal water circulation.
6. Throttling Device
The throttling device is a crucial component in the refrigeration system. Common throttling elements include thermostatic expansion valves and capillary tubes.
The throttling device serves several functions in the refrigeration system:
1. Throttling and Pressure Reduction: When high-pressure, ambient-temperature liquid refrigerant passes through the expansion valve, it becomes a low-pressure, low-temperature liquid. This liquid then flows into the heat exchanger (evaporator) where it rapidly evaporates, enabling heat transfer.
2. Flow Control: Utilizing a thermostatic bulb or the pressure drop across a capillary tube, it controls the temperature and pressure of the gas entering the compressor. This matches the refrigerant flow rate to the heat exchange load of the evaporator, fully utilizing its heat transfer area while preventing liquid slugging in the compressor.
7. Filter
Two types of filters are used in the system: filter-driers and copper strainers. Their primary function is to absorb and filter out impurities, moisture, and inevitably generated oxides and humidity from the system during assembly.
8. High/Low Pressure Switch
The high/low pressure switch is a safety component that controls the compressor's operating range. If the compressor's operating pressure becomes too high or too low, the switch activates to stop the compressor. The compressor will restart once the pressure returns to the normal range.
9. Electrical Components
The main electrical components used in the water chiller include: the controller, circuit breaker, AC contactor, thermal overload relay, and phase sequence protector.
Important Note: When using the unit's electrical components, ensure correct and secure wiring connections and a stable power supply voltage. Components within the control box must be protected from direct sunlight, moisture, and dust during operation. Especially during rainy summer weather, it is essential to ensure that electrical components do not become damp or operate with moisture present!
